Filipino Wedding
On Saturday, we went to a Filipino wedding. Let me first explain a little about the Philippines. Almost everyone in the Philippines has a helper. Bebing was the bride. She is Rich and Marla's former helper. Another thing about Philippine culture is everyone is late. The most important person is always last to show up. The wedding started almost an hour after it was supposed to, but that is normal. The ceremony is similar to a traditional American wedding except for one big thing. Everyone walks down the aisle and there are sponsors. Sponsors are couples that the bride and groom sort of look up to. Rich and Marla were sponsors and Sadie was a flowergirl and Tristan was the Bible carrier. They also discuss all the symbolism of everything. It was very interesting, but I felt very sorry for Bebing. I now know how hot wedding dresses can be and the church was not air conditioned and the reception was outside. It was a very nice ceremony and reception. Everyone was very friendly.
